Skype investigates reports of security vulnerability
Following reports of a security vulnerability, the online communication service Skype has disabled the password reset feature. Russian hackers had previously published instructions online on how to hijack other people's Skype accounts using only their email addresses.
The password reset function played a central role in this. The matter is currently being investigated, the Microsoft-owned service explained on Wednesday.
According to the latest figures, Skype has over 250 million active customers. The service allows users to call and text each other over the Internet. Microsoft bought Skype for around 8.5 billion dollars (Werbewoche.ch reported) and is currently making the service the central communication platform in the Windows world. (SDA)
