Dominic Geisseler has resigned from his post as Editor-in-Chief of Schweizer Illustrierte with immediate effect and is leaving Ringier. According to the statement, the break between Geisseler and the publishing house came about "due to differing views on the future journalistic direction of Schweizer Illustrierte.
The separation is by mutual agreement of the two parties. The editor-in-chief of SI will be taken over on an interim basis by Executive Board member Urs Heller, and talks are currently underway to find a successor for Geisseler.
Even before Geisseler took up his post on January 1, 2008, the position had been held by Urs Heller on an interim basis since February 2007 - in other words, for almost a year. During the long, futile search, Geisseler was chosen as a Ringier man; he had already worked for SI from 1989 to 2000, the last five years as deputy editor-in-chief.
