SF: Sunrise spot rejected

Sunrise wanted to broadcast a new commercial for its TV service on Swiss television (SRF) - at prime time. But SRF rejected the spot.

In a letter to Sunrise obtained by the Sonntagszeitung, it says: "SRF wants to protect its own core offering, which is why we have opted for a tactical restriction of individual product features." It is true that there is no general restriction on competing TV offerings. But, "We have to balance the commercial and competitive interests." The official sender is Publisuisse, a subsidiary of the Swiss Radio and Television Company, which exclusively markets its journalistic offerings.

In its new TV offering, the telecom group offers the Comeback TV function, which allows customers to rewind and watch the current TV program for 28 hours. In addition, Sunrise TV - as with Swisscom and UPC Cablecom - allows various movies to be purchased at the touch of a button (on-demand offers).
