Reinhardt von Graffenried Lifetime Achievement Award

Born in Lausanne in 1931, François Gross found his way into journalism at the beginning of the 1950s. He first worked as an editorial secretary at the newspaper La Gazette de Lausanne with Pierre Béguin, then became the French correspondent in Paris for four years before being appointed editor-in-chief of Téléjournal Romand, which was broadcast from Zurich at the time. Between 1970 and 1990, he shaped the Fribourg daily newspaper La Liberté with his direct and independent style as editor-in-chief. He then took over Radio Schweiz International in Bern, became president of the association Reporters sans frontières and taught at the Institute of Journalism at the University of Fribourg. The 83-year-old thoroughbred journalist lives in Fribourg and still writes regular columns for the online portal Sept.info.
