Schaffhauser Nachrichten: Online presence becomes multimedia and fee-based
The Schaffhauser Nachrichten website is becoming a multimedia news portal for the Schaffhausen region. Access to the full range of content now requires a paid subscription. The basic version of the portal remains open and accessible free of charge.
The result is a Information platformwhich reports on the most important events in the region almost around the clock and offers multimedia added value to the print edition, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. In addition, the current issue of SN is now available both in the form of individual articles and as a complete e-paper. The digital archive continues to offer access to all SN articles since 2000.
Content from the Meier media house
The offer is supplemented by content from the other media and platforms of Meier + Cie Schaffhausen. For example, the latest news from Radio Munot as well as the latest news program from Schaffhausen television will be available as a web stream. The platform also offers a daily overview of events in the region and is simultaneously a marketplace for real estate, job, vehicle and "treasure trove" offers.
Coming soon for iPad and iPhone
SN's digital offering will now also be available in the form of an application for iPad and iPhone. As with the online presence, the Regio News and the content of the print edition will be supplemented with multimedia content from the Meier media house. A corresponding app is currently being developed and is expected to be available in the Apple AppStore at the end of January. Applications for other smartphones will follow.
Use will be subject to a charge
At the same time as the changes to the content, a charge will be introduced for all those who wish to use SN's full digital offering. The basic version of the portal with the news and events overview and the leading regional classifieds markets will continue to be accessible free of charge. From tomorrow, Thursday, January 6, a paid subscription to Schaffhauser Nachrichten will be required to use the individual articles and reports. Subscribers to the print edition will automatically receive access to all digital content at no extra cost. Those who wish to do without the paper edition can choose between different online subscriptions.
