SBB: Reto Schärli becomes new media spokesman

Personnel change at the SBB media office in Zurich: From October 1, former Radio 24 editorial manager Reto Schärli will be media spokesman for German-speaking Switzerland.

Reto Schärli, 42, has 20 years of experience in journalism, according to an SBB statement. After studying journalism and folklore at the University of Zurich for a few semesters, he initially worked as a freelance journalist before spending six years as an editor for the Zürcher Unterländer newspaper. He switched from print journalism to electronic media in 1999 and spent ten years as editor and editorial director at Radio 24 in Zurich. At the beginning of 2010, he moved to the editorial department of the Zurich local station Radio1.

This means that the SBB media office in Zurich will once again be fully staffed, the statement continues. The trained SBB travel agency clerk Lea Meyer and the long-standing SBB media spokesman Daniele Pallecchi would receive a colleague in Reto Schärli, who is very well networked in the Zurich media and knows the needs of journalists very well from his own experience.
