Sarah Ziegler takes over the NZZ podcast department
The NZZ has a new head of its podcast division: Sarah Ziegler will take over the position from Sven Preger, who is moving to *Der Spiegel*, effective October 15, 2025. The former deputy head brings with her many years of experience from Westdeutscher Rundfunk.

The Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) is relying on internal continuity in the management of its podcast department: Sarah Ziegler, Deputy Head of Podcast since April 2025, will take over overall responsibility for the media company's audio division on October 15, 2025.
Ziegler succeeds Sven Preger, who is leaving the company after two years to take on a new challenge in the management team of the newly established cross-media department at "Der Spiegel". The change means a return to Germany for him, both professionally and privately.
"I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Sarah Ziegler, an experienced and well-connected audio journalist from our own ranks, to head up our podcast department," says Eric Gujer, Editor-in-Chief of the NZZ. "She knows the market and the mechanisms in detail and has everything it takes to further develop our podcast offering strategically and journalistically."
Before joining NZZ, Ziegler worked at Westdeutscher Rundfunk, where she made a name for herself developing podcast formats and was responsible for various audio strategy projects.
Under the leadership of outgoing podcast boss Preger, NZZ has significantly expanded and professionalized its audio offering. In addition to the award-winning daily news podcast "NZZ Akzent", successful formats such as "NZZ Machtspiel" and "NZZ Geopolitik" were launched. Cross-departmental cooperation was also strengthened during this time.
