Sabine Lüthy leaves Swiss Radio DRS

The Swiss Aids Care International Foundation remains in family hands: radio presenter Sabine Lüthy, the daughter of founder Ruedi Lüthy, will take over the management of the organization, which runs a hospital for HIV and Aids patients in Zimbabwe, on 1 January 2012.

The 42-year-old worked for Radio DRS with interruptions from 1996 until the end of October 2011. Most recently, she was editor and presenter of the "Input" program on DRS 3. "I am glad that I can preserve my father's life's work with my commitment and lead it into the future," she said according to the foundation's press release on Wednesday. Her father continues to run the foundation's hospital in Harare, the capital of Zimbabwe.

The doctor Ruedi Lüthy founded Swiss Aids Care International in 2003. The foundation now cares for 3,800 patients in the clinic in Harare and in mobile wards and trains over 200 specialists every year. In Zimbabwe, at least 500,000 people would be dependent on HIV treatment. (SDA)
