"Rundschau" ready to take off for new era

With a new studio and new technical features, «Rundschau» is ready for the future of television. Starting August 21, 2013, lead host Sandro Brotz will interview studio guests at the “Heisse Theke.” Susanne Wille joins the team.

The new décor of the political magazine of Swiss Radio and Television forms a stylish unit of wood and concrete elements, complemented by an LED panorama, according to a statement. The linchpin of the new design, which is made up of 760 individual parts, is the moderation counter - in the shape of the letter R. Thus, the Heisse Stuhl (hot chair) now becomes the Heisse Theke (hot counter).

As a new feature, "Rundschau" also uses augmented reality: This involves integrating graphic elements into the TV pictures, which are elaborately produced 3D graphics and animations. They make complex topics more understandable to the audience.

In terms of content, "Rundschau" is focusing even more on revelations. "We want to position ourselves with persistent research and surprising reports," explains editorial director Mario Poletti. At the hot bar, presenter Sandro Brotz will grill his guests - as he did before at the hot chair. "I will be uncomfortable, but fair," says Brotz. His replacement will be Susanne Wille, who also does guided reports.

With the biggest renovation in its 40-year history, the political magazine is ushering in a new era. Severine Waibel (Art Director Information and Culture SRF) and set designer René Jauch are responsible for the new design.
