"Robot naming ceremony": Stämpfli seeks names for "machine colleagues"
Two new robots have recently joined the team at Stämpfli Bookbindery in Bern. The names of these new «robot colleagues» will be chosen by the social media community.
For the past year, two state-of-the-art robots, known as cobots, have been assisting employees at Stämpfli Druckerei AG in Bern with repetitive tasks on the saddle stitcher in production. The cobots from MBO are not only powerful helpers, but also ideal co-workers that relieve the bookbindery, according to a press release. Now two more cobots are to support production - their names will be decided by the social media community.
Naming by employees and the community
The first two cobots were given their names based on creative suggestions from employees, which were ultimately chosen by the social media community. Since then, "Speedy" and "Paletti" have mastered their tasks with impressive precision. Their success has been so convincing that two more cobots have joined the team this summer.
Voting in progress
These two cobots will also be given individual names - after all, they are already a permanent part of the Stämpfli team. The two cobots will actively support production on the saddle stitcher, the folding machine and the perfect binder. The employees have already suggested names. They range from Falzy and Schneidy to Wall-E and KITT. Anyone who wants to can vote here until September 10 on how the robots will be baptized in the end.
