Radio Basel: Christian Heeb quits
Christian Heeb is leaving Radio Basel on October 24. The co-founder of the Basel local station wants to transfer his shares to his partner Karlheinz Kögel.
Radio Basel is realigning itself. Christian Heeb, who founded and launched Radio Basel around two years ago together with Karlheinz Kögel, will leave the company on October 24, 2011 to mark the two-year anniversary of the station's launch, according to a press release issued on Wednesday. In future, Kögel will hold more than 99.9 percent of Radio Basel shares. He wants to lead the station into a new future. The transition submitted to the Uvek for approval should make it possible to seek cooperative marketing solutions for the future that will strengthen Radio Basel economically.
Since the implementation of the ambitious new concept two years ago, Radio Basel has continuously increased its reach, the press release continues. The ambitious target of over 100,000 users was achieved and maintained for several months in spring 2011, with Radio Basel clearly exceeding the acceptance of all its predecessors. The independent Radio Basel Group, which holds no stakes in other broadcasters, has so far operated without any association with other broadcasters. The company has no obligations to banks or third parties. The station had been supported exclusively by the two previous partners.
The governments of both Basel and the Federal Office of Communications have been fully informed of this decision, according to the press release.
When asked by SDA, Heeb did not want to comment further on his departure, as the entire editorial team had not yet been informed and the application to the federal government was not yet online. In any case, the radio station is not being sold, but he is stepping down. After five years of working for this station, it was time for a break - but he did not want to talk about retirement.
