Ratings debacle: SRG considers legal action against 3+
This week, the Swiss ratings were public for a few hours. Hardly happened, 3+ had a publication banned again. Now SRG is considering a lawsuit against 3+, as Schweiz am Sonntag writes.
The head of the 3+ channel, Dominik Kaiser, still insists that the figures of the new method are wrong (Werbewoche.ch reported). Some other TV makers are now apparently losing patience with the private broadcaster. According to information from Schweiz am Sonntag, SRG is seriously considering a lawsuit against 3+. SRG has not filed a lawsuit at the moment, explained SRG media spokesman Daniel Steiner in response to a question from Schweiz am Sonntag. They want to wait for further developments first. But "after the conclusion, we will examine all options," he adds.
Mediapulse, on the other hand, has already responded: According to the Handelszeitung, the market research company is claiming monthly damages of CHF 800,000. A corresponding amount is therefore being demanded from 3+ as security. However, this does not worry 3+ CEO Dominik Kaiser any further. He suspects pure tactics behind the demand, as he told Schweiz am Sonntag. The question is rather how high 3+'s claims for damages are.
However, the damage will not become any smaller as a result. The ban has a negative impact on advertising revenues. This was also confirmed by Publisuisse spokeswoman Romi Hofer to Schweiz am Sonntag. And the damage will become greater the longer the ban is upheld.
