AZ Medien Digital has entered the second round of the DNI with the "Kolibri" project. This project is about a technical platform that can be used to create new mobile apps for smartphones very quickly and easily on the basis of the AMP (Accelerated Mobile Pages) programming standard. AMP is a technical standard that makes websites faster to find on mobile devices. With the new "Kolibri" platform, which AZ Medien Digital will implement as part of the DNI, this standard can be used very easily for Android and iOS apps. In this way, website providers can use "Kolibri" to create and manage their mobile apps quickly, cost-effectively and, above all, sustainably.

As in the first DNI round, the total volume of the project amounts to a mid-six-figure sum. AZ Medien Digital will use "Kolibri" to develop new apps for its TV and special interest websites as a first step. Once the project is complete, however, the platform will also be available to all other media houses in open source mode.

"We are of course delighted to be able to realize a project together with Google as part of the Digital News Initiative for the second time in a row. This shows that AZ Medien Digital is now also one of the leading media companies in Switzerland when it comes to digital innovation." Peter Neumann, Chief Digital Officer, AZ Medien.
