Prix Europa: Twelve Swiss Nominations
Twelve of the 237 nominations for the Europe-wide Prix Europa media competition, which took place in late October, are for Swiss TV, radio, and online productions this year.
The nominees are All That Remains, Sinestesia, Die Käserei in Goldingen and Jump. The latter, a film from Italian-language radio and television station RSI by Bindu de Stoppani, is also competing in the Best Feature Film category.
In the TV documentary category, Romans d'Ados 2002 - 2008 about young people in French-speaking Switzerland and Tous les jours de la nuit about miners in Bolivian mines cleared the pre-selection hurdle. The Swiss-German radio plays Franz Musil's seventh case and Nachwehen are vying for the prize in the Radio Fiction category.
The Swiss Radio and Television (SRF) web documentary 360 Grad Langstrasse Zurich about the "craziest district in Switzerland" is one of the 27 productions that can hope to win an award in the online category. In total, works from 36 European countries are taking part in this year's competition.
The Prix Europa has been awarded since 1987 in recognition of outstanding European quality programs. The motto of the 25th edition is "Celebrating 25 Years of Media Quality - Made in Europe", according to a communiqué issued on Tuesday. The festival will take place in Berlin from October 22 to 29.
