Pia Guggenbühl takes over management of the publishers' association
Pia Guggenbühl will become the new director of the Swiss Media Publishers Association, succeeding Stefan Wabel in February 2025; Wabel will become COO at ch media. The seasoned public affairs expert brings extensive political experience and a strong network to the association.

The Executive Committee of the Swiss Media Publishers Association (vsm) has made a decision: Pia Guggenbühl will take over the operational management of the association from Stefan Wabel in February 2025. Guggenbühl, currently Head of Public Affairs and Communications and a member of the Executive Board of scienceindustries, the trade association of the Swiss chemical, pharmaceutical and life sciences industries, brings extensive expertise to the new role. Publisher President Andrea Masüger emphasizes the importance of this appointment: "We are convinced that Pia Guggenbühl, with her experience in political lobbying and her broad network, will ideally represent the interests of our members."
The future director sees clear priorities in her new role: "Private, independent media make a key contribution to media diversity in Switzerland, but they face major challenges. Stable and improved framework conditions are therefore essential - I look forward to actively shaping this process together with the Executive Board, the team and our sister associations." Guggenbühl, who studied political science and communications at the Universities of Zurich and Florence, has in-depth knowledge of political processes and public affairs. Her professional career has taken her through the energy and consumer goods industries as well as the Employers' Association of Banks in Switzerland. She also gained experience as Head of Communications for the FDP Switzerland and as a consultant to various associations and companies.
