Philomena Colatrella and Jean-Jacques Roth join the Board of Directors of Le Temps
Le Temps has appointed two new members to its board of directors. Philomena Colatrella, outgoing CEO of CSS Assurance, and Jean-Jacques Roth, an experienced media professional, will assume their roles on January 1, 2026. Their expertise in governance, digital transformation, and media is expected to strengthen the Board of Directors.

Le Temps has elected two new members to the Board of Directors at an Extraordinary General Meeting. Philomena Colatrella and Jean-Jacques Roth will take up their mandates on January 1, 2026. The newspaper has been majority-owned by Fondation Aventinus since January 1, 2021.
Expertise from business and the media
Philomena Colatrella joined CSS Assurance in 1999, where she held various management positions before becoming CEO in 2016. The lawyer (University of Fribourg, bar exam 2000) also holds a CAS in Finance and completed the Senior Executive Program at London Business School. She will leave CSS at the end of December 2025 following a comprehensive strategic and digital transformation of the company. She is involved in several committees, including the ASA Committee (SIA), prio.swiss, digitalswitzerland, economiesuisse and the Board of Directors of Swiss Life Holding.

Jean-Jacques Roth began his career at the Tribune de Genève in 1979 and later became deputy editor-in-chief at Nouveau Quotidien and L'Hebdo. A key figure in the founding of Le Temps in 1998, he became editor-in-chief there and director in 2004. He then became Head of Information at RTS before moving to Le Matin Dimanche and then Tamedia, where he worked until the end of 2023. At the same time, he is Vice-President of the Fondation Leenaards, a position he will relinquish at the end of December, and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine of the Grand Théâtre de Genève.
Strategic reinforcement
The appointment of Colatrella and Roth marks the strategic will to strengthen and diversify the board's competencies - both on an editorial and cultural level as well as in the areas of governance, business and digital transformation.
President Abir Oreibi explains: "We are delighted to welcome Philomena Colatrella and Jean-Jacques Roth to the Board of Directors. Their expertise strengthens the complementarity of the profiles in line with the current challenges of the media industry and with our development ambitions as a Swiss reference medium, both at the editorial level and in terms of innovation."
For her part, Philomena Colatrella emphasizes: "Le Temps has been with me since my youth. From German-speaking Switzerland, I have always appreciated the precision of its analyses and the nuanced quality of its journalism. This medium has played an important role in the formation of my economic and political convictions and in my understanding of democratic issues. By enriching the Swiss media landscape with an independent voice and a French-speaking Swiss sensibility of national scope, Le Temps occupies a valuable place. I look forward to joining its Board of Directors."
Jean-Jacques Roth explains the reasons for his commitment: "I have accompanied Le Temps since its foundation, sometimes from close up, sometimes from afar. I know its value, I recognize the difficulties it faces, like all media. It is a space for information, debate and opinions that is essential to the vitality of our democracy, now more than ever. And it is in the name of these values that I am delighted to join its Board of Directors today."
The Board of Directors now consists of six members: Abir Oreibi (Chairwoman), Wiktor Bourée, Philomena Colatrella, Louis Dreyfus, Fabrice Eggly and Jean-Jacques Roth.
Le Temps is the only French-language daily newspaper in Switzerland with a national and international focus.
