Personnel changes at NZZ am Sonntag

The NZZ is planning a redesign. In conjunction with the planned redesign, personnel changes will take effect as of August 1, 2013.

At the beginning of June, the NZZ announced that a redesign was planned in order to provide readers with an even more attractive product in the second half of the year with a newspaper that has been renewed both visually and in terms of content (Werbewoche.ch reported). In connection with the redesign, the following personnel changes will now come into effect: Pascal Hollenstein, Head of the Domestic Editorial Office, will become the new Deputy Editor-in-Chief. He replaces Thomas Isler in this function. Hollenstein will continue to head the domestic department, but will also act as a page maker, together with the second deputy editor-in-chief Chanchal Biswas.

Thomas Isler is moving to the background department at his own request, according to an NZZ statement. This is in view of the redesign of the NZZ am Sonntag. In the Background section, Isler will be in charge of the Opinions and External Contributions section. In addition to Isler, Daniel Meier will also join the Background section. Francesco Benini remains head of the department.

Anna Trechsel becomes the new head of the foreign desk. Matthias Knecht joins the foreign desk as editor. Knecht previously worked as a freelancer from Mexico for the NZZ am Sonntag.

Roberto Zimmermann will be the new head of the Style/Magazine department. He replaces Katharina Blansjaar, who left the editorial team in January. Marina Bräm has already been working as an infographic artist for NZZ am Sonntag since January.
