Peer Teuwsen is "Journalist of the Year
Readers of the trade magazine *Schweizer Journalist* voted Peer Teuwsen «Journalist of the Year» for 2012. Hansi Voigt and Gülsha Adilji also received awards.
Zeit editor Teuwsen received the most votes in the eighth edition of the award, according to a statement. Teuwsen had "established a new voice in political discourse with the Swiss pages of Zeit er" and thus stood for "quality journalism," it said in the reasons given by those who voted. A total of 1012 participants took part in the election. A preliminary jury had put 14 candidates to the vote. Teuwsen has headed the Swiss pages of Die Zeit since the end of 2008 and is also the paper's correspondent.
Second place went to Jonas Projer, Brussels correspondent for Swiss television, for his "exemplary reporting on the EU debt crisis. Third place went to Kurt Pelda, one of the few journalists from Switzerland who "courageously and fearlessly went to Syria to see what was happening on the ground. His articles appear mainly in Weltwoche.
Hansi Voigt of 20 Minuten online was voted Editor-in-Chief of the Year. Newcomer of the Year is Joiz presenter Gülsha Adilji. All other categories and rankings can be found in the magazine Schweizer Journalist, which will be published these days.
