Patrick Chapatte is the first European to receive the Thomas Nast Prize. His cartoons appear in publications such as the International Herald Tribune, Le Temps, and NZZ am Sonntag.
The U.S. award for cartoons has been presented since 1968. The Overseas Press Club of America (OPC) is an association of foreign correspondents in the United States. It presents awards in 27 categories each year, according to a press release issued Wednesday by SDA. According to the statement, the award is considered the most prestigious in U.S. journalism after the Pulitzer Prize.
Chapatte works for Bilan magazine; in the past, he also worked for The New York Times and Newsweek.
