NZZ Secretary General Roman Bretschger appointed to the ENPA Executive Committee
Dr. Roman Bretschger, General Secretary of Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ), has been appointed to the Executive Committee of the European Newspaper Publishers' Association ENPA. The organization promotes good framework conditions for journalism and the interests of European publishers.
The ENPA based in Brussels, is the leading European publishers' association and counts national associations from around 14 countries, including Germany, Austria, France and Italy, among its members. The association is involved in various activities and initiatives to address the challenges and opportunities of the media industry at European level in politics and legislation.
Dr. Roman Bretschger was elected at the General Assembly as a new member of the ENPA Board, which is chaired by Belgian publisher François le Hodey. Bretschger represents the Swiss Media Publishers Association VSM on the Board and replaces Hans Heinrich Coninx, who was made an honorary member of ENPA after his many years of service to the European association.
For Bretschger, cooperation and exchange between media companies is also of great importance at European level: "In view of the challenges facing the media industry - from digitalization and artificial intelligence to regulatory changes - cross-border exchange between media associations and media companies is becoming increasingly important. ENPA provides a valuable platform for this dialog to find common solutions to strengthen journalism in Europe."
