NZZ Germany: New Managing Director and Editor-in-Chief

Jan-Eric Peters has been Managing Director of NZZ Germany since January 2021. Marc Felix Serrao, head of the Berlin office of the NZZ, becomes the new Editor-in-Chief of NZZ Germany. The NZZ Media Group is thus further expanding its organization in Germany.

The appointment of Jan-Eric Peters represents a further strategic step to accelerate its expansion in Germany, according to the NZZ-Mediengruppe writes in a statement. "Having successfully steered the management for Germany from Zurich, it is now time for the next step. By making targeted investments and strengthening the team in Germany, we intend to drive this development forward," explains Felix Graf, CEO of the NZZ-media group.

Jan-Eric Peters is responsible for the German business of the NZZ-media group in full. He sits on the extended management board of the NZZ-Mediengruppe and reports to Felix Graf. Peters was Editor-in-Chief at Axel Springer for almost 20 years, ten of them at the Welt Group. Most recently, he helped develop Axel Springer's news service Upday as co-founder and deputy CEO. "The NZZ has been a place for journalism with a liberal perspective for 240 years, a beacon in the European media landscape. I have long valued it as a reader and am delighted to now be able to support the team in growing even stronger in Germany. The potential is great," Peters comments on his decision.

Editorial responsibility for the Germany coverage lies with Marc Felix Serrao, who heads the Germany office of the NZZ-has headed the editorial team since July 2017 and reports to Eric Gujer as before.

The new Head of Products at NZZ Germany will be Ulrich Machold. The trained journalist has developed digital products for Axel Springer for more than ten years, first as head of the in-house incubator Ideas, later for Business Insider Germany and for Upday.
