NZZ expands corporate management

The Board of Directors has appointed Steven Neubauer, Frank-Rainer Nitschke, and Felix Peter to the Executive Board.

Steven Neubauer will become Head of Marketing and Products of the NZZ Business Division. Neubauer (37) will share responsibility for the business unit with Head of Journalism and NZZ Editor-in-Chief Markus Spillmann. His focus will be on the development and management of the product range across all channels, as well as the marketing of the "Neue Zürcher Zeitung," the NZZ am Sonntag and other NZZ products. Neubauer already headed the User Market division on an interim basis.

Felix Peter (58), who has been Head of Human Resources at the NZZ Media Group for many years, is now also part of the management team as Head of Human Resources. He will focus his attention primarily on human resources development.

The previous Digital unit and the IT unit will be combined in a new Technology & IT unit. This unit will be responsible for developing and implementing the technology roadmap and for technical operations for the NZZ Media Group. The management of this new unit will be filled in the near future. Peter Baer, Head of IT, will actively support this process until summer this year, when he will retire.

As of March 1, 2014, Frank-Rainer Nitschke (52) will represent the New Business division on the Executive Board. His task will be to manage and further develop the new investments of the NZZ Media Group and to examine and drive forward plans for expansion into new markets and services. Nitschke looks back on a long career - among others at Henkel, Leifheit and Deutsche Bank - with a focus on the development, marketing and operation of new products and service concepts.

As part of Frank-Rainer Nitschke's New Business division, the NZZ Media Group's health activities will be separated from the NZZ division and transferred to the New Business division. Kai Eberhardt (32) will become Head of eBalance and report to Frank-Rainer Nitschke. The previous head, Ruth Ellenberger, has decided to leave the NZZ Media Group. She was already a member of the founding team when the project started in 2005 and took over the management of eBalance at the end of 2009.
