Newsnetz also in French-speaking Switzerland from 2012

The Newsnetz news network, which previously comprised the news portals Baz.ch, Bernerzeitung.ch, Derbund.ch, and Tagesanzeiger.ch, is now expanding its reach to French-speaking Switzerland through its merger with 24heures.ch, Lematin.ch, and Tdg.ch (Edipresse Suisse), is now also expanding into French-speaking Switzerland.

The news portals of the three daily newspapers 24 heures, Tribune de Genève and Le Matin will gradually take over the technical platform of Newsnetz over the next few months, as detailed in a press release issued on Thursday. At the same time, the existing editorial teams of 24heures.ch, Tdg.ch and Lematin.ch, which currently comprise around 20 full-time positions, will be strengthened and cooperation with the Newsnetz editorial teams in German-speaking Switzerland will be expanded. The participating daily newspapers will continue to bear overall journalistic responsibility for the individual news portals.

The Federal Parliament correspondents from all news portals will work at a joint newsdesk in Bern and the editorial offices will exchange texts, videos, images and photo spreads in a targeted manner, the statement continues. The Newsnetz editorial office in Zurich will also provide the editorial offices in French-speaking Switzerland with news from German-speaking Switzerland. During major national events such as votes, elections or disasters, the editorial teams will work together more closely in order to feel the national pulse as comprehensively as possible and to offer their readers added value through the additional perspectives beyond the language borders.

Joint sales team under the management of Stefano Buzzi

From January 2012, the national marketing of all news portals as well as the iPad and mobile applications will be handled by a joint Newsnetz sales team headed by Stefano Buzzi. A new sales team headed by Pascal Cornu will be set up within Edipub for regional marketing in French-speaking Switzerland. Until the end of 2011, all offers from 24heures.ch, tdg.ch and lematin.ch can still be booked via Romandie Online.

According to the company, this will create the news network with the widest reach in Switzerland as of January 1, 2012, with around 3.2 million unique clients per month (Net Metrix Audit June 2011).
