New magazine in the Central Swiss media industry: Zentral+

On Thursday, MMV Online launched a new magazine for Central Switzerland: Zentral+ will now provide daily coverage of politics, business, society, and culture.

With the online publication, the publishers want to increase media diversity in Central Switzerland. The magazine is free of charge. It promises background reports and analyses. Additional elements include blogs, an agenda, news tickers and services.

According to a statement from the publisher MMV Online, the users are just as important to the creators as the voices of the editorial team. Dialogue is actively encouraged on the platform. The publication can be accessed via the website as well as via applications for smartphones and tablet computers. According to Nick Mijnssen, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MMV Online, the "long-standing monopoly situation in Central Switzerland has led to a broad need for an alternative".

Zentral+ is financed by advertising revenue, association contributions and donations. According to the news agency SDA, Managing Director Christian Hug did not want to disclose budget figures.

Eight permanent and part-time employees work in the publishing and editorial departments. The editorial team is headed by Yvonne Anliker. She was previously deputy editor-in-chief of the LZ title Neue Zuger Zeitung. A co-editor for Lucerne is still being sought, the press release adds. There are also plans to further expand the staff of freelancers.
