MTV Networks Switzerland removes Astro TV from its program
MTV Networks Switzerland has decided to stop broadcasting Astro TV as of September 1, 2011.
"We are convinced that by replacing Astro TV with popular Comedy Central formats, we are meeting the wishes of viewers, advertisers and platform providers alike", Roger Elsener, VP, Country Manager MTV Networks Switzerland, was quoted as saying in a press release on Wednesday. "With this step, we are creating an appealing program environment on all our channels around the clock that sets us apart from the competition and offers sufficient scope for growth in audience share and advertising spend."
"Shiva TV" was initially launched on Viva in 2010 and currently airs Monday to Friday between 10.10 p.m. and midnight and Saturday and Sunday between 10.15 p.m. and midnight on Comedy Central. From September, the "Shiva TV" slots will be filled with shows such as "South Park", "My Name is Earl", "Little Britain" and "Genial Daneben".
According to the press release, the company has higher expectations for the market share development of these channels and the corresponding sales development of the enhanced quality environment with the new programming strategy. The platform operators in Switzerland support this programming improvement.
