MTV Networks with new Swiss station portfolio
In spring 2011, MTV Networks will introduce a new portfolio of Swiss channels: Comedy Central, a channel dedicated entirely to comedy, will launch on May 16. In addition, MTV will place greater emphasis on Swiss artists and Swiss music in the future, and Viva will be expanded to a 24-hour service on digital TV.
Comedy Central will be available every day from 20.15 following the Nickelodeon Switzerland program. The comedy format will also act as a platform for Swiss comedians and thus close a gap in the Swiss television landscape, according to a statement on Wednesday.
To coincide with the Comedy Central launch, MTV will be placing a greater focus on Swiss artists and Swiss music in future. In "Brand:neu", MTV station boss and presenter Jubaira Bachmann invites Swiss pop stars to talk about their latest projects and with "Brand:neu Swiss Made" there will be an extra dose of Swiss music clips every week.
At the same time, Viva will be expanded into a 24-hour digital TV offering. Instead of a program window in the evening program on Nickelodeon, Viva will in future offer the young target group of 15-34-year-olds the best in music, lifestyle and entertainment throughout the day - including brand new formats such as the cooking show "Hell's Kitchen" by and with master chef and star entertainer Gordon Ramsay, the fifth season of the successful make-over magazine "Fashion Trix" with Daisy Dee and the Viva music shows "Retro Charts", "Neu" and "Viva Top 100". Viva is available in Cablecom's digital offering and from Swisscom TV.
