"Meteo": Jan Eitel now hosts the main edition
Jan Eitel is a new addition to the "Meteo" rooftop on SRF 1 after the main edition of "Tagesschau". He replaces Daniela Schmuki during her pregnancy leave and remains on duty afterwards to reinforce the evening anchor team.
The 35-year-old from Basel joined SRF's "Meteo" editorial team in November 2006 and works as a meteorologist and editor, and since 2007 also as a presenter for the weather program. According to the statement, Jan Eitel holds a degree in geography and worked as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Meteorology, Climatology and Remote Sensing at the University of Basel from 2001 to 2006. There he wrote his diploma thesis in meteorology.
Jan Eitel: "I'm really looking forward to my new job as evening presenter. It probably won't be much different from the midday presenter - it's still my favorite topic, the weather. The biggest changes are the time as well as the audience. As an avid sailor and windsurfer, weather developed into one of my hobbies as a child. Now I have the honor of presenting the latest weather developments in prime time."
Head of Editorial "Meteo" Thomas Bucheli: "Jan Eitel has already proven himself in recent years as a presenter in the program 'SRF Meteo' at noon on the roof. So it is a logical consequence that he will also be used in the evening as a replacement for Daniela Schmuki and to complement the existing team. I am delighted for Jan and wish him every success, also on behalf of the public."
