"Mensch Meier" - New TV format with Vanessa Meier
In the new TV format "Mensch Meier," Vanessa Meier visits the Meiers throughout German-speaking Switzerland every Saturday evening for seven episodes. The 29-year-old TeleZüri presenter's namesakes will provide fascinating insights into their everyday lives. The show starts on August 26.
The new program will be broadcast on the regional TV stations TeleZüri, Tele M1, TeleBärn, Tele 1 and TVO. Meier is one of the most common Swiss surnames, everyone has at least one of them - albeit sometimes with a different spelling - stored on their cell phone. The new regional TV format "Mensch Meier" is all about THE Swiss surname. Vanessa Meier sets out to find the most exciting namesakes in German-speaking Switzerland. The journey has its subtleties: Vanessa Meier only finds out where she is going when she correctly deciphers the mysterious clues from her interview partners. Once she arrives at her destination, she gets to know unique people and their professions and hobbies, which are anything but ordinary. The episodes are accompanied by exciting facts about the protagonists and statistics about their last name in the respective broadcast region.

Episode 1 - August 26, 2023: Mensch Meier - with drifter Yves Meyer: Yves Meyer (32) likes horsepower: He drifts in his 1,000-horsepower car at competitions around the world and was even runner-up in Japan in 2018. Vanessa Meier assists the Lucerne native's team of mechanics in the garage with the post-processing of the vehicle and has to do it herself at the end: At the Event Center Seelisberg, she dares her first drifting attempts. Will it turn out well?
Episode 2 - September 2, 2023: Mensch Meier - with animal keeper Monika Mayer: Monika Mayer's heart beats for animals, especially meerkats. At Walter Zoo in Gossau (SG), the 20-year-old animal keeper in training from Bühler (AR) looks after the well-being of the inhabitants and takes Vanessa Meier into her working world for a day. At the zoo, Vanessa meets Viktor. Not a Meier, but a Siberian tiger with whom she is to complete a medical training course.
Episode 3 - September 9, 2023: Mensch Meier - with Patrouille Suisse pilot Claudius Meier: Claudius Meier from Bern has been a pilot with the Patrouille Suisse for six seasons. On a training day, the 34-year-old takes the TeleZüri presenter to the crew's team briefing at the Emmen military airbase. After that, it's time for flight training. How does Vanessa cope with her first flight with the commander of the Swiss aerobatic team?
Episode 4 - September 16, 2023: Mensch Meier - with the chimney sweep Niklas Meier: Niklas Meier from Erlinsbach (AG) sees himself as a bringer of luck and thus perfectly fulfills the cliché of a chimney sweep. He reveals to Vanessa Meier in advance that things will be "dark and dirty" with him. By that, the 24-year-old means the high chimney of the Waldhaus Gönhard in Aarau. Will Niklas Meier also bring her luck in her upcoming task?
Episode 5 - September 23, 2023: Mensch Meier - with the apnoea diver Manou Maier: Manou Maier (51) is a passionate freediver, which means she dives without an oxygen tank. She became vice Swiss champion in deep diving in 2018 and reached a depth of 32 meters. This passion brings Winterthur Vanessa Meier closer in Lake Zurich, where Vanessa pushes her physical and psychological limits, because: The lake water in which she is to dive is just eight degrees warm when the two meet.
Episode 6 - September 30, 2023: Mensch Meier - with police officer Patrick Meier: Patrick Meier from Zofingen has been part of the Aargau Cantonal Police Corps for over 13 years and lives to help people. Vanessa accompanies the 38-year-old on an early morning patrol. In the process, she experiences her first serious police assignment and finds out firsthand what it feels like in an adjustment cell.
Episode 7 - October 7, 2023: Mensch Meier - Special Episode: In the seventh and last episode of "Mensch Meier," Vanessa Meier will meet several namesakes and cousins. On October 7, 2023, viewers will find out which prominent Meiers the TeleZüri presenter will be facing and what tasks she will have to master.
"Mensch Meier" will be broadcast every Saturday at 6:20 p.m. on the regional TV stations TeleZüri, Tele M1, TeleBärn, Tele 1 and TVO starting August 26, 2023.
