Manfred Papst receives Alfred Kerr Prize

Manfred Papst, an editor at the NZZ am Sonntag, is being awarded the Alfred Kerr Prize for his outstanding achievements in literary criticism. This is the first time the prestigious prize has been awarded to a Swiss journalist.

The Alfred Kerr Prize honors the work of Manfred Papst, who, according to the jury, has headed the culture department of the "NZZ am Sonntag" for many years, unperturbed by fads in the newspaper landscape. The jury's statement said: "He is interested in the works and people of cultural life, both in high and popular culture. Whether in the long haul of an essay or in the sprint of trenchant short form, Pope regularly succeeds in producing very cleverly thought-out, standard-setting texts of the kind that have become rare today."

Manfred Papst is a founding member of the NZZ am Sonntag. He became known for his articles on intellectual history and popular culture as well as for his weekly column "Zugabe. He has received several awards for his journalistic work. Among others, he received the Zurich Journalism Award in the category of everyday journalism in 2005.

The Alfred Kerr Prize donated by the Börsenblatt will be awarded to Manfred Papst at the Leipzig Book Fair on March 12, 2015.
