Mummy bloggers are "Journalists of the Year"

The "Journalist of the Year" award goes to an online editorial team for the first time. Nicole Althaus and Michèle Binswanger, who created the mommy blog on the Tagesanzeiger.ch/newsnetz online portal, were honored for their innovative idea.

According to Markus Wiegand, editor-in-chief of the industry magazine Schweizer Journalist, the two authors of the Mamablog have managed to occupy a niche with the topic of family that is neglected in the traditional media, SDA reported on Thursday. The Tages-Anzeiger online portal launched the Mamablog in March 2009. Binswanger still writes for the Mamablog. The 42-year-old Althaus took over as editor-in-chief of the monthly magazine Wir Eltern on September 1.
The title of "Editor-in-Chief of the Year" goes to Susan Boos, who works for the left-wing weekly WoZ. "Political Journalist of the Year" goes to DRS editor Caspar Selg, while the "Newcomer of the Year" award goes to Weltwoche journalist Daniel Glaus. The jury chose freelance author Daniel Ammann as "Business Journalist of the Year". Among other things, he has written the book Marc Rich - King of Oil. This year, the title of "Sports Journalist of the Year" goes to freelance author Walter de Gregorio.
Every year, Schweizer Journalist magazine presents awards for outstanding journalistic achievements. The "Journalists of the Year" are determined on the basis of an internet survey with 1550 participants. The other prizes are the result of assessments by a jury of 25 experts.
