Karsten Witzmann leaves Sonntagsblick
Karsten Witzmann, editor-in-chief of Sonntagsblick, is leaving Ringier at his own request effective the end of November 2012. Rolf Cavalli, editor-in-chief of Blick.ch and head of all digital channels for the Blick Group, will take over as interim editor-in-chief of Sonntagsblick.
Karsten Witzmann will leave Ringier at the end of November to pursue a new challenge in the coming year, the media company announced on Tuesday. Witzmann joined Ringier in February 2010 from Bild-Zeitung in Germany as deputy editor-in-chief of Blick and took over as head of SonntagsBlick on August 1, 2010. He played a key role in the integration of the Blick titles in the integrated newsroom and consolidated the position of Sonntagsblick in the new structure of the Blick Group.
Marc Walder, CEO Ringier: "I thank Karsten Witzmann for his great commitment. He has raised the profile of Sonntagsblick even higher in the highly competitive Sunday market."
Rolf Cavalli is taking over as interim editor-in-chief of Sonntagsblick with immediate effect. Cavalli has been editor-in-chief of Switzerland's leading online news platform Blick.ch since April 1, 2009, and head of all digital channels of the Blick Group since March 2011. He is responsible for all app, mobile and moving image projects in the Blick Group newsroom. Rolf Cavalli has worked in various functions at Ringier since 1997. Among other things, he has already been head of news and deputy editor-in-chief of SonntagsBlick and Blick, as well as interim editor-in-chief of Blick.
