Heartfelt kisses for Zug Sleeping Beauty
Local newspaper Small, loss-making - but with ideas: From April, the Zuger Presse will be looking for advertisements that didn't exist before.
Zuger Presse: Small but innovative
From April, the Zuger Presse (ZP) is launching a new advertising offensive. The twice-weekly newspaper presented itself in mid-March with a new layout and color - a further milestone in the innovations. The Zuger Media publishing house now has a three-member Board of Directors, consisting of main shareholder Daniel Brunner, Adrian Bauder (Chairman of the Board) and Matthias Luchsinger from Cinecom.
Daniel Brunner handed over the operational business to Daniel Neukomm, who now acts as Managing Director together with Editor-in-Chief Florian Hofer. The background to these changes is Brunner's hitherto hapless commitment, which led to an annual deficit of around one million francs.
New sources of income on Lake Zug
Neukomm's main task is to reduce the deficit. As the circulation of 5500 copies can hardly be increased, new sources of advertising are to be tapped. A line extension is to generate a third of the income in future. The trade fair press, a four-color tabloid magazine that is distributed to 100,000 households, is published for the first time for the Wohga housing fair in Zug. Other projects include the real estate press and the boardstock press. A job press is also planned, which will initially include one page of job advertisements in every ZP issue.
Cooperation and new ideas
From April, ZP will be cooperating with ImmoScout24, whereby the local ZP-Immo area will be integrated into the Switzerland-wide Scout24 online market. ZP readers will receive access via the ZP homepage.
Reader profile and market analysis
The 5500 ZP subscribers include many opinion leaders from Zug. According to a market analysis, 50 percent of ZP subscribers also read the Tages-Anzeiger, 23 percent the Zuger Zeitung and 22 percent the NZZ. ZP and Tages-Anzeiger offer a combined subscription.
