Imholz sponsorship award: win 7500 francs for the best travel reportage idea
The Imholz Award, presented by the Hans Imholz Foundation and the Swiss Travelwriters Club, goes to the best idea. The completed travel feature will be published in the Sonntagszeitung. The deadline for submissions is March 27, 2018.

There are already five enthusiastic winners of the Imholz Award. The first winner, Andrea Freiermuth, traveled through the Amazon basin by public transport. And just recently Sunday newspaper published last year's winner Beat Eichenberger's report on the volcanic tropical island of St. Helena.
These trips were made possible by the Hans Imholz Foundation and the Swiss Travelwriters Club (STC), the Swiss network for travel journalism, travel bloggers and media work in tourism. Both organizations are committed to independent journalism, especially in travel reporting, which is becoming increasingly difficult today in the wake of budget cuts and shifts in publishers' interests: Many trips are at the invitation of airlines, tour operators or destinations.
This is where the Hans Imholz Foundation and the STC come in with the prize money of 7500 francs. It is not awarded for a report that has already been written, but for an idea. "This stimulates creativity. This encourages young journalists in particular to pursue their own research approaches," former travel entrepreneur Hans Imholz is convinced. Christoph Ammann, Head of Travel at the editorial office of Tamedia/Sunday newspaper, doubles down: "The readers of the Sunday newspaper like surprising reports. The articles by the Imholz Award winners have always taken us into unusual regions." The Sunday newspaper has been a partner of this unique journalism prize since 2013.
The deadline for submitting the new concepts is March 27, 2018. The ideas will be judged by the three-member Imholz Award jury. It consists of Sonja Hüsler (President of the Swiss Travelwriters Club), Katharina Deuber (STC board member) and Christoph Ammann from the Sunday newspaper. The winner will be announced by the beginning of May at the latest. The prize money will enable them to implement their own concept in the following months and write the text by the end of the year. The conditions of participation for the Imholz Promotion Prize can be found at Swisstravelwritersclub.ch can be called up. Freelancers, permanent freelancers and editors who live in Switzerland and publish their articles in Swiss media can take part.
