Among the information published after the hack on the darknet were individual delivery addresses from the cantons of Aargau, Solothurn and Basel-Landschaft, the Tamedia titles announced in their Friday edition. The data collected in 2019 is publicly accessible material such as first names, names and addresses.

View had announced on its online portal on Friday night that postal subscriber data from View and SonntagsBlick from the aforementioned cantons were among the published data from the hack.

CH Media: No ransom paid

The hackers have threatened to publish more data in the coming days, according to CH Media CEO Michael Wanner. "We will continuously analyze the published data, and depending on the findings and sensitivity of the information, we will inform the affected individuals directly," he said in an interview with his newspapers published Friday. The company has not paid a ransom, he added. Wanner did not provide details on the amount demanded.

Attack discovered on March 24

The attack on the IT infrastructure of the NZZ media group, from which CH Media also procures IT services, was discovered on March 24. As a result, the three titles had to Aargauer newspaper, Lucerne Newspaper and St. Galler Tagblatt temporarily dispense with the different regional sections, so-called split editions. The New Zurich Newspaper also appeared reduced on individual days.

On Wednesday, the responsible hacker group Play published CH Media's corporate data on the darknet. The companies belonging to CH Media, AZ Vertriebs AG and VS Vertriebs GmbH, are also responsible for newspaper delivery for subscribers of View and SonntagsBlick responsible, like View wrote. According to Tamedia, AZ Vertriebs AG is also a delivery service for its newspapers. (SDA)
