Green light for RSMG: kicker App Switzerland can launch
The competition authorities in Germany and Austria have officially approved the joint venture between kicker ventures GmbH (Olympia-Verlag) and Ringier Sports Media Group AG. This clears the way for the new kicker app in Switzerland,
The app is to be expanded step by step into a comprehensive sports ecosystem.
An expanded newsroom in Zurich will provide content on Swiss sport in future, supplemented by contributions from the international RSMG network and the kicker editorial teams in Germany and Austria. The initial focus will be on Swiss football, with all sports to be covered in the medium term.
The new joint venture bundles the kicker.ch and sport.ch platforms and has already launched with 1.5 million unique users and over 23 million monthly page views. Ringier Advertising is responsible for marketing.
With this partnership, the two media companies want to use their complementary strengths in quality journalism, technology and reach to offer sports fans in Switzerland a digital home.
