Greulich Culture Prize 2012 goes to Kulturkritik.ch

The 2012 Greulich Culture Prize, worth 10,000 francs, goes to the culture blog Kulturkritik.ch. Launched in 2009, the project responds to changes in local cultural reporting, which has seen its space in print media dwindle.

Kulturkritik.ch is characterized by innovative approaches to editing, financing and promoting young talent in cultural journalism and is supported by various Zurich cultural event organizers, as detailed in a press release. It is run by the Cultural Journalism Platform of the Zurich University of the Arts, whose "Publish & Communicate" Master's degree program is attended by aspiring cultural journalists and active cultural critics. The project will be represented at the award ceremony on March 16 by its initiator Stefan Schöbi, Deputy Head of Communication and lecturer at the ZHDK. The juror for the Greulich Culture Prize 2012 was media expert Kurt Imhof, Professor of Sociology and Journalism Studies at the University of Zurich.

The Greulich Cultural Foundation, based in Zurich, was established in April 2005. Its aim is to recognize and promote quality in cultural journalism. It is committed to journalistic training and the promotion of young journalists and aims to positively influence the quality of journalism in general. It is part of the overall "Greulich" project, which the Swiss lawyer. Thomas B. Brunner opened in 2003 as a restaurant, bar and design hotel as well as a place of modern urban culture in Zurich's Kreis 4 district.
