Google Analytics expands market share
In the latest edition of the study "Web Analytics in Switzerland", Yourposition once again examines the use of web analytics tools on Swiss websites this year.
Yourposition identified a total of 784 installations of client-side web analytics tools on 899 websites. Compared to March 2010, Google Analytics has further expanded its market dominance, as the Swiss agency for search engine marketing and web analytics writes in a press release: Google's analysis tool is used on almost two thirds of all pages. According to the study, the proportion of sites without a tracking tool has decreased significantly compared to the previous year: Only around 20 percent of all website operators now completely dispense with client-side web analytics. The increase in Google Analytics in large Swiss companies is particularly significant: more than half of the top 100 Swiss companies use Google Analytics. As recently as March 2010, only 40 percent of these sites used Google's free tool. Obviously, companies' confidence in data quality and/or data protection is increasing.
Online stores are still the most likely to completely dispense with web analytics tools - even though, according to the report, they should have a particular interest in the evaluation and data-based optimization of their website: According to the study, almost a third of all online stores still do not use client-side web analytics at all.
