Gaudenz Looser leaves 20 Minuten after 21 years
Gaudenz Looser, former editor-in-chief and, most recently, deputy editor-in-chief of 20 Minuten, is leaving the editorial team after exactly 21 years. Effective June 1, 2026, he will become a partner at the strategy boutique Advsry and start his own business as a strategy and communications consultant.

After 21 years, Gaudenz Looser is leaving the editorial team of 20 Minuten. The former editor-in-chief and, most recently, deputy editor-in-chief for three years, will be setting up his own business as a strategy and communications consultant. On June 1, 2026, he will become a partner at Advsry, a strategy boutique that operates throughout Switzerland.
Formative years at 20 Minuten
Gaudenz Looser has inspired and shaped 20 Minuten as the national media brand with the widest reach for many years. Key innovations were implemented under his leadership: he drove forward the video strategy and was responsible for the "20 Minuten NOW!" concept, which won the Media Excellence Award in 2022. He also positioned 20 Minuten as an effective authority against disinformation with consistent fact-checking and initiated the Social Responsibility Board, another award-winning initiative that set new standards for responsible language.
Most recently, Gaudenz Looser launched an AI channel, making 20 Minuten the only Swiss medium to have its own department for communicating AI know-how to the general public. With his deep understanding of journalistic content, Looser has always been committed to reporting in the service of readers.
Further training and a new challenge
Gaudenz Looser completed a diploma course in journalism at the MAZ and went on to study communication at the ZHAW and media management at the Hamburg Media School and Columbia University.
"20 Minuten is something like my great love and will probably always remain so," says Gaudenz Looser. "Because I know that this excellently produced journalistic product, which has long since become a national icon, is in the best of hands, it's a little less difficult for me to let it go after 21 years. The people at 20 Minuten are as close to me as a family. At the same time, I find it enormously exciting to accompany the rapid changes in the world outside of an editorial office, i.e. to support various companies. The implementation of AI, disruption in the media market and political uncertainty require a steady hand and precise translation work for increasingly complex social communication needs."
Still working as a freelance author
20 Minuten can also count on the support of Gaudenz Looser in the future. He will continue to support the company as a freelance author and AI expert as well as with commercial projects. His successor as editor-in-chief will be announced soon.
Désirée Pomper, Editor-in-Chief of 20 Minuten, says: "In Gaudenz Looser, we are losing a colleague who has been held in high esteem by everyone and who has been with us for many years. With journalistic clarity, speed and respect for the audience, he has shaped 20 Minuten. We sincerely thank him for this. As well as for his innovative spirit and unbroken creative power. We sincerely wish Gaudenz much joy and success in his new role."
