Galledia successful in first fiscal year

Galledia, a media company based in eastern Switzerland and a joint venture between Druckerei Flawil and Rheintaler Druckerei und Verlag, can look back on a successful first fiscal year. All of the company’s goals were achieved.

With consolidated sales of over 40 million, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) amounted to CHF 4.3 million, as Galledia announced on Wednesday. The margin of over ten percent is above average compared to the rest of the industry. Taking into account special factors such as the reorganization and initial costs, those responsible were very satisfied with the result. The Galledia management expects a further increase in profitability in the coming years thanks to synergies.

Despite pressure on volumes and prices, the Print division, which generates the highest turnover, significantly exceeded its budget. Turnover reached CHF 27 million and the operating result EBITDA amounted to 12 percent, according to the press release. The publishing division contributed a third of the Galledia result with sales of CHF 16 million. The companies Galledia Verlag, Mediasec, Motormedia and Galledia Frauenfeld published 22 trade journals. Real Estate Business and Umwelt Perspektiven were acquired.

The media company Galledia was jointly founded in January 2012 by Druckerei Flawil and Rheintaler Druckerei und Verlag. The company is based in Flawil and employs 227 people, including 29 apprentices. (SDA)
