Galledia Group acquires a stake in Ostschweizer Medien AG

Ostschweizer Medien AG, the publisher of *Die Ostschweiz*, is expanding its shareholder base. Through a minority stake acquired by the Galledia Group, the company aims to drive forward key development steps in several projects and leverage synergies.

The new publication launched in April 2018 Eastern Switzerland looks back on a strong development. In just under five years, the online platform has set editorial accents and attracted a steadily growing readership. The website has also been continuously expanded to include new outlets such as podcasts, video talks and various journals. The brand Eastern Switzerland has also been communicated to the outside world for the past three years with a print magazine and, in the future, with events.

A cooperation with the Galledia Group has already existed since 2020. Galledia has been responsible for print processing since the launch of the print publication. In addition, individual projects in the IT area have also been developed jointly.

"The fact that these two media companies are now even closer together is a logical step and means that we can push ahead with numerous projects and ideas more quickly and with the involvement of even more expertise," explains Marcel Baumgartner, Publishing Director of Ostschweizer Medien AG. In particular, the areas of IT, marketing, print processing and events are to be given a quick boost. "Galledia will become an important partner for us in operations, technology and market expansion," Baumgartner concludes.

Eastern Switzerland will continue to contribute to media diversity in the region as an independent publication. The partnership with the Galledia Group, which has now been strengthened, will enable the company to adapt even more quickly to market situations in the very dynamic digital world and to establish its own innovations in the market.

In the course of the minority shareholding of the Galledia Group, its Chairman Urs Schneider takes a seat on the Board of Directors of Ostschweizer Medien AG.
