Expansion into the healthcare sector: Somedia acquires Helvète Media

The media company Somedia enters the medical media and communications market with the founding of Somedia Health. In this context, Somedia Health acquires the French-speaking Swiss company Helvète Media.

Modern patients are increasingly taking a self-determined approach to finding out about their health and well-being. Somedia Health wants to serve this need for information through suitable media and has therefore founded Somedia Health together with the strategy consultant and entrepreneur Niklaus Leemann. The first step was to acquire the French-speaking Swiss company Helvète Media.

Helvète Media aims to make complex topics from the world of healthcare accessible to a broad audience. The company publishes two print magazines in western Switzerland. While the health magazine Salle d'attente is aimed at the general public and at patients, the professional magazine La Newsletter distributed exclusively to healthcare professionals. In addition, Helvète Media, based in Martigny, offers various other marketing and communication services to its clients in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries.

Even after the takeover, Helvète Media's existing portfolio of services will remain unchanged. By bundling the competencies and resources of Helvète Media and Somedia, the product portfolio is to be successively expanded over the next few years and new innovative solutions and services offered for the medical and healthcare industry.

Change in the management

The change in ownership also entails a change in the management of Helvète Media. Founder and Managing Director Nina Reic will leave the company at the end of November 2023, while long-time employee Cécile Ichtertz will take over as Helvète Media's Managing Director in the fall.
