"First step towards print": Nau Media becomes main shareholder of BärnerBär
As of June 2025, Nau Media will acquire a majority stake in Berner Medienhaus AG, the publisher of the weekly newspaper BärnerBär. The editorial and sales departments will be integrated into Nau’s organizational structure; according to reports, editorial independence will be maintained.
As of June 1, 2025, Nau Media AG will hold a significant stake in Berner Medienhaus AG, which has been publishing the weekly newspaper BärnerBär publishes. Nau thus becomes the main shareholder and ventures into the print sector.
Nau-Media CEO Yves Kilchenmann sees the investment as a strategic expansion of the existing portfolio: "For us, this is a first step in the direction of print and also opens the door to two new areas of development: the print product itself and distribution directly into letterboxes. Both are extremely exciting for us." The digital sector will also play a central role in the future collaboration: the "Nau Bern" and BärnerBär are to be brought together digitally and positioned as a free regional service. The aim is to become the leading digital contact point in the Bern region.
The previous BärnerBär-Managing Director and Partner Lorenz Feller describes the merger as a "logical consequence": with Nau, the company has gained an established partner from the online media world with whom the print brand can be led into the digital future. At the same time, the print product will be retained and further developed.
