EqualVoice: Ringier wants to position women and men more equally
The media company Ringier wants to position women and men more equally in its media. That's why the EqualVoice initiative was presented to all employees at a kick-off event on Monday.

The core of the initiative is the EqualVoice Factor. It shows how visible women and men are on the websites of Ringier and Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland.
For each website, the "Sherlock" data tool analyzes the number of articles about women and men. This results in two so-called scores: firstly, the teaser score, which evaluates images, overlines, titles and the leads with regard to the visibility of women and men on the web pages. And secondly, the body score, which analyzes the text of the respective article by specifically measuring how often women and men have their say.
Amazon Rekognition systematically recognizes and counts the people in the images. The algorithms used and the quality of the data are regularly checked by data specialists and the editorial teams.
According to the press release, the goal is not to have 50 percent men and 50 percent women in all titles at once. Rather, the aim is to raise awareness of the issue of equality. (SDA)
