An anniversary celebration dedicated to quality journalism
The Ringier School of Journalism will celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2024. Distinguished guests and numerous alumni will honor the legacy of an institution that has had a lasting impact on Swiss journalism—especially at a time when the quality of the media is increasingly coming into focus.

Since its foundation in 1974, the Ringier School of Journalism has had a significant influence on journalistic training in Switzerland. Especially today, at a time when the media landscape is confronted with declining reporting quality, the role of such training institutions is becoming increasingly important. Current findings from the Media Quality Ranking 2024 (MQR-24) show a widespread decline in the quality of content, while the public paradoxically perceives an improvement. Regional offerings that have been able to maintain or even improve their quality stand out particularly positively.
This contradictory development shows the value of well-founded journalistic work, as taught at "JouSchu" for five decades. The school continues to attach great importance to careful research and impartiality - qualities that the media quality ranking lists as essential for opinion-forming in a democracy. Under the direction of Peter Hossli and supported by modern digital tools such as artificial intelligence, the school prepares its graduates to meet the demands of high-quality journalism even in a changing media environment.
