When politics and society go crazy once again, elections get out of hand and issues boil over - then often only a large portion of humor can help. The Swiss press illustrators ensure this at regular intervals with their keen powers of observation and sharp pens.

At the end of the year, the exhibition "Drawn 2016" at the Museum of Communication brings together the most important works and provides an overview of the creative spearheads of the industry. From December 16, 2016 to January 29, 2017, around 50 caricaturists and cartoonists will present 200 selected works on the most important debates and events of the year that is coming to an end in what is guaranteed to be the most humorous review of the year.

The house cartoonists of the best-known Swiss media titles such as Felix Schaad (Tages-Anzeiger), Max Spring (Berner Zeitung), Peter Schrank (Basler Zeitung), Silvan Wegmann (Aargauer Zeitung), Patrick Chappatte (NZZ am Sonntag/Le Temps), Ruedi Widmer (WOZ), Gerald Herrmann (Tribune de Genève) and Ben Marchesini (Le Matin) will also be taking part.

The events of the last few years have not simplified the work at the drawing table - anyone who draws exposes himself and has to deal very carefully with the limits of what is bearable and reasonable. At the same time, however, the importance of press drawing as a complement to the often interchangeable agency image has become clear to a wider public. With the exhibition Gezeichnet 2016, Swiss draftsmen and draftswomen give the interested public an insight into their daily work beyond the newspaper columns.

Gezeichnet 2016 is under the patronage of the satirical magazine Nebelspalter and is supported by Migros Kulturprozent and the Ernst Goehner Foundation.
