Former patron of the newspaper L'Agefi died
Alain Fabarez, the former publisher of the French-Swiss business newspaper L'Agefi, died Wednesday evening in Lausanne. The former chairman of the board of directors of the Genolier Hospital Group died of a heart attack at the age of 68.
Born in Paris, he joined L'Agefi Switzerland in the 1970s and bought the paper from the French L'Agefi in 1993. He headed the company until 2007. Under his leadership, the newspaper went public in 1999.
In 2006, the publisher expanded into the healthcare sector and acquired the Genolier Swiss Medical Network GSMN. Fabarez knew French-speaking Switzerland perfectly, said François Schaller, editor-in-chief of L'Agefi. He had left his mark on the media house, he added. (SDA)
