Disney with record business in 2011 mainly thanks to family programs and ESPN sports channels

Disney is more successful than ever this year. The company's coffers were filled primarily by revenue from Disney's family programming and the ESPN sports channels.

But ABC's full program also generated higher advertising revenues recently. More people flocked to the theme parks and vacation clubs, booked cruises on Disney ships, tuned in to the Group's television channels or bought Mickey Mouse souvenirs.company boss Robert Iger spoke on Thursday in Burbank, California, according to SDA, of the record business that Disney had done in the entire financial year (to October 1).

Turnover rose by 7% to 10.4 billion dollars in the final quarter. Compared to the same period last year, profits even improved by 30 percent to a bottom line of 1.1 billion dollars. After rivals News Corp. and Time Warner had already made more money with television commercials, Disney's performance exceeded analysts' expectations. The entertainment giant now has an annual turnover of 40.9 billion dollars and an annual profit of 4.8 billion dollars.

Disney's area of both concern and hope is digital media. It continued to record high losses of 94 million in the final quarter.
