Diploma ceremony with heart
Stormy winds, choppy seas, swaying ground - that was the fitting setting for this year's diploma ceremony for communication leaders, which took to the floating theater stage on Friday.
The host of the Herzbaracke, Federico Pfaffen, who has been anchoring his "little salon ship" at Zurich's Bellevue for 16 winters, remained calm in the face of the rough seas and conjured up a delicious multi-course meal for the thirty or so guests - spiced up with amusing sayings from the theater maker. For the sixth time, the nostalgic Wunderkammer provided the perfect setting for SW Schweizer Werbung's graduation ceremony for its federally recognized communications managers.
Urs Schneider, president of the examination board, and examination director Heinz Egli presented the hard-earned diplomas. Melanie Bachofner and Corinne Hert, two of the three ex-aequo best in class, were specially honored; due to illness, the third in the bunch, Alexandra Cathrin Fitzi, had to pass. Like their comrades-in-arms, they received not only the federal diploma and a one-year membership in SW Schweizer Werbung, but also an English-language Diploma Supplement, which is intended to make personnel managers from abroad who are unfamiliar with the Swiss educational landscape understand the high value of this training. On the other hand, you were the only ones to be richly presented with gifts from the sponsors publisuisse (iPad mini), Faber-Castell (high-quality writing set) and Touring-Zeitung (travel voucher). The culinary delights, the musical intermezzo by the blues duo Christina Jaccard & Dave Ruosch, and the flowers for the ladies were also gratefully provided by APG, Bildungszentrum BVS St. Gallen, Marketing & Kommunikation, mediaschneider, and Sawi.
Great success rate
Of the 14 candidates who took the demanding oral and written examinations last fall, twelve were able to receive the highly deserved diploma after 22 months and 470 lessons. This corresponds to a very good success rate of over 85 percent. This year's class also confirmed the trend that more and more women are taking the reins in advertising. On the one hand, they were clearly in the majority with 9 female candidates; on the other hand, as mentioned above, they provided the three best candidates of the year with an average of 4.9 each. The newly awarded diploma candidates in alphabetical order: Melanie Bachofner, Glattbrugg, Tonino D'Agati, Fahrweid, Alexandra Cathrin Fitzi, St. Gallen, Corinne Hert, Gerlafingen, Agnes Immersi, Hergiswil, Bernd Marte, Dornbirn, Nadine Meier, Therwil, Dimitrija Mitrovic, Wettingen, Melanie Nolte, Allschwil, Manuel Schmid, Kriens, Christoph Welti, Kaiseraugst, and Jasmin Wendt, Bern.
