The "Tagesschau" turns 70
On August 29, 2023, Switzerland’s most-watched news program—the «Tagesschau»—will celebrate its 70th anniversary. SRF is marking the occasion with a special week-long series looking back on the program’s history.
70 years of "Tagesschau" means 70 years of change. In the early days, there were still warnings about the corrosive effect of television on the Swiss people. In the following decades, however, the "Tagesschau" and its faces in front of the camera found their voice. And it sounded deliberately distant for a long time, something that has changed decidedly over the course of time. Which voices and faces will be heard and seen in the future? AI-controlled avatars? The "Tagesschau" highlights these points and other questions on the occasion of its 70th birthday in a three-part series (from Friday, August 25, to Sunday, August 27, 2023).
Gesichter & Geschichten" is also dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the "Tagesschau. In a five-part series (from Monday, August 28, to Friday, September 1, 2023), "G&G" will highlight the news program over the past 70 years together with current and former presenters. With great "aha" moments, funny anecdotes and nice reunions.
