SRG's top management enjoys little trust among 20 Minutes readers

According to a survey by 20 Minuten, 60 percent of respondents describe their trust in SRG's top management as low or rather low. But this is no cause for concern for SRG.

Around 21,000 people were surveyed in mid-December 2017. The adjusted results were weighted by two political scientists according to demographic, geographic and political variables. Accordingly, the margin of error is one percentage point.

According to the Survey results only just under 30 percent of respondents rate their trust in SRG's top management as high - 12 percent do not know. Confronted with the results, SRG spokesman Daniel Steiner points out that trust in the media offering is much more decisive and that SRG performs much better here than other media brands.

Bendicht Luginbühl, former member of the management board of Schweizer Radio DRS, is somewhat more critical of the results: The lack of trust is a sign that the strategic performance of SRG is largely not understood by the Swiss population. SRG has not yet succeeded in explaining the public service in a comprehensible way and thus in "constantly and proactively re-anchoring" its own legitimacy among fee payers.

35 percent of respondents know that Gilles Marchand is Director General - Marchand was the most frequently mentioned name. 23 percent guessed his predecessor Roger de Weck. Steiner's answer here is that awareness of the Director General is "not a goal".

The question of whether it was right for SRG employees to speak out publicly on the No Billag initiative was answered by almost 60 percent in the affirmative and 34 percent in the negative. (hae)
